Activities

Perception audit: A perception audit was conducted among the media fraternity as well as members of the investment community and key government representatives.

Media relations: We coordinated the media representation at the announcement including writing of the media statement and opinion pieces, compilation of the updated database of key media contacts, extension of invitations to the press conference, coordination and compilation a schedule of key one-on-one media interviews with the CEO, Ms Ramos and CFO, Mr Wells.

Event and logistics management: We coordinated the logistical arrangements for the Transnet Executive Committee breakfast, management, labour unions, media and stakeholder briefings including media engagement/interviews and Summit TV’s live broadcast as well as the provision of a business centre for the day. Our responsibilities also extended to updating databases, distribution of invitations and coordination of responses.

Editor's breakfast meeting: An editor's breakfast briefing was coordinated on request of Transnet following the annual results announcement. A database of editors and producers as well as deputies and influential media and analysts was compiled in conjunction with the client and invitations distributed via email.

Intensive media follow-up calls were conducted to confirm attendance at the breakfast and close interaction with the client for guidance regarding requests for certain media to attend delivered excellent attendance results. The breakfast was attended by 527 influential media editors and journalists, which is unprecedented and stands testimony to the interest the media have in the Group Chief Executive.
